چکیده

Graphene and bilayer graphene quantum dots are promising hosts for spin qubits with long coherence times. Although recent technological improvements make it possible to confine single electrons electrostatically in their valley texture of the single-particle spectrum has been studied detail, relaxation dynamics remains still unexplored. Here, we report on transport through a high-frequency gate-controlled single-electron dot. By transient current spectroscopy states, extract lower bound time 0.5 $\ensuremath{\mu}\mathrm{s}$. This result represents an important step towards investigation times graphene-based implementation qubits.

Spin states in graphene quantum dots.

We investigate ground and excited state transport through small (d≈70  nm) graphene quantum dots. The successive spin filling of orbital states is detected by measuring the difference between ground-state energies as a function of a magnetic field. For a magnetic field in-plane of the quantum dot the Zeeman splitting of spin states is measured. The results are compatible with a g factor of 2, a...

Electronic excited states in bilayer graphene double quantum dots.

We report tunneling spectroscopy experiments on a bilayer graphene double quantum dot device that can be tuned by all-graphene lateral gates. The diameter of the two quantum dots are around 50 nm and the constrictions acting as tunneling barriers are 30 nm in width. The double quantum dot features additional energies on the order of 20 meV. Charge stability diagrams allow us to study the tunabl...

Spin hot spots in single - electron GaAs - based quantum dots

Spin relaxation of a single electron in a weakly coupled double quantum dot is calculated numerically. The phonon-assisted spin flip is allowed by the presence of the linear and cubic spin– orbit couplings and nuclear spins. The rate is calculated as a function of the interdot coupling, the magnetic field strength and orientation, and the dot bias. In an in-plane magnetic field, the rate is str...

Probing quantum coherent states in bilayer graphene

An active area of post-CMOS device research is to study the possibility of realizing and exploiting exotic quantum states in nanostructures. In this paper we consider one such system, two layers of graphene separated by an oxide insulator. This system has been predicted to have an excitonic condensate that survives above room temperature. We describe a computational technique—path integral quan...

Spin qubits in graphene quantum dots

The electron spin is a very promising candidate for a solid-state qubit [1]. Major experimental breakthroughs have been achieved in recent years using quantum dots formed in semiconductor heterostructures based on GaAs technology [2, 3, 4, 5]. In such devices, the major sources of spin decoherence have been identified as the spin-orbit interaction, coupling the spin to lattice vibrations [6, 7,...
